FTP Issues Timeout detected. (data connection)

I am able to ftp to my domain but I am unable to open any directories. i then receive the following message :slight_smile:

Timeout detected. (data connection)
Could not retrieve directory listing
Error listing directory ‘/public_html’.

Try opening the PASV ports in your firewall.
Try opening ports 65000-65050 in your firewall
Those are the ports for passive ftp transfer…in addition to port 21
If I am right you are using winscp… try using filezilla

That got me thinking … So removed AVG !!! All sorted now thanks for quick response

Oh antivirus kinda sucks… good to know your problem solved…

This worked for a few minutes Now back to same issue, Firewall disabled, AVG removed !!

Hi i already us FileZilla, I copied the data i wanted to FTP to my tablet and managed to connect using my tablet with no issues !!

When i try to connect using FTP i can see my directories but i am unable to open any of the folders i receive the following message Timeout detected. (data connection)

Error listing directory ‘/public_html’.

I have no firewall turned on and no Anti virus running at present
I have tried 3 different FTP programs and also from the command line same issue

please advise

Check your internet connection and keep trying… sometimes the ftp server is overpopulated…

@mickhall That seems to be an temp issue. Try after some time.

Or use file manager…as it is working fine
